Tower of Babble
Richard Feynman was the physicist famous for cutting through bureaucratic doubletalk at the Challenger hearings. To make a point, he dunked an O-ring into a cup of ice water to demonstrate
how it lost its resiliency and caused the accident.
Now that's effective communications!
Feynman was famous for telling his students that they should be able to explain their most complex theories in terms even their bartender could understand. In other words, Keep It Simple.
- Do you have a clear, consistent message that you communicate with your customers?
- Can your staff articulate the company's goals?
- Do your managers express themselves clearly, so their staff understands them?
Tip: Communications is the foundation upon which an effective organization is built. It can be a door --- letting people in --- or a barrier --- keeping them out. Cut through
the babble and strengthen your organization. |
